The member representing Ilorin West/Asa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Muktar Tolani Shagaya, has distributed tricycles to selected beneficiaries and donated a tractor to Asa Local Government as part of efforts to promote economic empowerment and agricultural development.
The empowerment programme, held within the constituency, saw beneficiaries receive tricycles along with the necessary documentation to facilitate their operations and improve their means of livelihood.
Speaking during the event, Shagaya said the initiative was aimed at creating sustainable economic opportunities, supporting entrepreneurship, and reducing unemployment among constituents.
“Beyond transportation, these tricycles are tools of empowerment. They provide opportunities for economic advancement, self-reliance, and improved living standards for beneficiaries and their families,” he said.
The lawmaker explained that the programme was designed around a revolving empowerment model to ensure that more people benefit over time, thereby expanding access to economic opportunities across the constituency.
Beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the intervention, describing it as a life-changing opportunity that would enable them to earn sustainable incomes and better support their families.
In a related development, Shagaya presented a tractor to Asa Local Government to support farmers and improve agricultural productivity in the area. He noted that the intervention would enhance access to mechanised farming, reduce production costs, and increase agricultural output.
According to him, the initiative complements the development agenda of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and reflects a commitment to improving the welfare of residents through practical and impactful programmes.
The lawmaker also appreciated the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, and the leadership of the 10th National Assembly for supporting initiatives targeted at improving the lives of Nigerians.
He urged beneficiaries to make productive use of the opportunities provided, assuring constituents of his continued commitment to programmes that promote economic growth, agricultural development, and sustainable livelihoods across Ilorin West/Asa Federal Constituency.
