A group within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, under the aegis of Kwara Progressives, has dismissed the reasons advanced by the G15 Supporters for postponing their planned rally, insisting that the decision was influenced by poor mobilisation rather than the explanations offered by the group.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the group maintained that the postponed rally failed to attract the expected level of support from party members across the state.
The group also defended the outcome of the APC primary elections, stating that the exercises were conducted under the supervision of officials from the party’s National Headquarters and in accordance with the APC’s established guidelines.
It noted that the emergence of the party’s governorship candidate, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, and other candidates reflected the wishes of party members expressed through the primary election process.
According to the statement, participation in a democratic contest requires acceptance of its outcome, warning that efforts to discredit the process after participating in it undermine the principles of internal democracy.
The group further cited the recent Kwara Ndupe Rally organised in appreciation of President Bola Tinubu, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, and the APC leadership as evidence that the majority of party members remained loyal to the mainstream structure of the party.
It also rejected claims that Kwara had become insecure, describing such assertions as misleading and politically motivated, while maintaining that the state remains one of the more peaceful states in the country despite prevailing national security challenges.
The group equally dismissed allegations that local government funds were used to finance the solidarity rally, describing the claim as unfounded and insisting that the event was supported through voluntary contributions by party members and stakeholders.
It urged aggrieved members to channel their grievances through the party’s constitutional mechanisms and reiterated its commitment to strengthening unity within the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
