The leadership crisis rocking the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Joint Campus Committee (JCC), Kwara Axis, appears to be easing following the affirmation of Comrade Yusuf Abdulquadir Eleburuike as the duly elected chairman by stakeholders of the association.
The resolution was reached at the end of a stakeholders’ meeting convened to review the conduct and outcome of the just-concluded NANS Kwara JCC convention and address concerns raised by contestants and other stakeholders.
The meeting, chaired by Comrade Olalekan Lawal, popularly known as Auto, was attended by representatives of the two contenders. Comrade Ismail Aloba was represented by Comrade Uthman Abdulkadir and Comrade Habeeb Tajudeen, while Comrade Yusuf Abdulquadir Eleburuike was represented by Comrade Adebayo Kayode.
The stakeholders also unanimously passed a vote of confidence on the Senior Special Assistant to the Kwara State Governor on Student Affairs, Comrade Wasiu Abdulsalam Onidugbe, citing his contributions to student welfare and the advancement of student unionism in the state.
During the meeting, stakeholders reaffirmed Comrade Olakanmi Abdullateef, popularly known as Felepoly, as the sole and duly recognised chairman of the convention, after representatives of both camps confirmed there was no irregularity in the process that produced him.
Following extensive deliberations and a review of submissions from all parties, the stakeholders upheld the convention outcome and officially affirmed Eleburuike as chairman of NANS Kwara JCC.
In a move aimed at fostering reconciliation and inclusiveness, stakeholders offered Aloba the position of secretary in the incoming administration to encourage collaboration and strengthen unity within the students’ body.
The meeting also directed the convention chairman to work with stakeholders to harmonise the allocation of other executive positions to sustain peace and stability within the association.
The stakeholders subsequently called on all student leaders, supporters, and members of the association to embrace peace, mutual respect, and unity in the collective interest of students across Kwara State.
