An indigene of Oke-Oyi in Ilorin East Local Government Area of Kwara State, Comrade Soliu Ismail Aloba, has emerged as the Chairman of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Joint Campus Committee (JCC), Kwara Axis.
The Kwara State University student expressed appreciation to delegates and student leaders across the state for entrusting him with the mandate to lead the association, describing his emergence as a victory for all students rather than a personal achievement.
Speaking shortly after his election, Aloba pledged to rebuild trust in the students’ body, strengthen its relevance, and reposition NANS Kwara as a vibrant platform for student advocacy, welfare, leadership development, and institutional engagement.
He said the students’ movement in the state was at a critical stage and required deliberate efforts to reconnect with students across campuses and restore confidence in the association’s ability to effectively represent their interests.
According to him, his administration will focus on inclusiveness, accountability, and impactful leadership, assuring students that no institution, whether public or private, will be left behind.
“Our goal is to build a NANS that is visible, responsive, and impactful. Every institution matters, and every student deserves to feel represented,” he said.
Aloba also promised to initiate developmental projects, including educational support programmes, welfare interventions, entrepreneurship schemes, health campaigns, and leadership development activities aimed at improving students’ experiences across campuses.
He further pledged to strengthen student legislatures through capacity-building programmes and sustained engagement with school authorities, government agencies, and relevant stakeholders to advocate for better learning conditions and student-friendly policies.
The newly elected chairman highlighted his previous leadership roles, including serving as Financial Secretary of the Ilorin Emirate Students Union, Senate President and Public Relations Officer of the National Association of Kwara State Students, President of the Chemistry Department, and Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to a former NAKSS National President.
He called on students, stakeholders, and campus leaders to work collectively toward rebuilding trust and revitalising student leadership in the state.
His emergence has been welcomed by several student leaders and stakeholders, who expressed optimism that his administration would usher in a new era of inclusiveness, advocacy, and purposeful leadership in Kwara’s student community.
