Equity Campaign Gains Momentum as Kwara North Backs Tinubu, Pushes for 2027 Governorship

Thousands of stakeholders from on Tuesday staged a massive rally in , endorsing the re-election of while intensifying calls for the governorship of to be zoned to the region in 2027.

The rally, held at Metropolitan Square, was described as a strong statement on equity and inclusion, with speakers insisting that after decades of supporting other senatorial districts, Kwara North deserves the opportunity to produce the next governor.

Speaking on behalf of stakeholders, former Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, , said aspirants from the district had agreed to unite behind whoever emerges as the candidate of the .

He noted that such unity would strengthen the district’s chances of achieving its long-standing ambition, urging other regions to support the demand in the spirit of fairness.

The rally drew key aspirants including , , , and , all of whom presented a united front.

Also speaking, the Emir of Lafiagi, , described the agitation as a just demand, noting that Kwara North’s contributions to political stability and electoral victories have yet to translate into top leadership positions.

Former lawmaker and ex-Commissioner for Information, , backed the call, citing the region’s consistent electoral strength and urging reciprocity from other districts.

The event ended on a symbolic note as aspirants joined in a unity dance, signalling solidarity and readiness to collectively support the party’s eventual flagbearer.
