2026 Hajj: Kwara to Begin Pilgrims’ Airlift May 6

The Kwara State Government has announced that the airlift of intending pilgrims for the 2026 Hajj exercise will commence on May 6, 2026.

The exercise will take off from the to , according to the Executive Secretary of the Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, .

Speaking during an enlightenment programme for prospective pilgrims in Ilorin, Abdulkadir said the airlift would be conducted in batches to ensure a smooth process.

“The second batch will depart on May 7, while the third batch will leave on May 9,” he said.

He also disclosed that Saudi authorities had introduced identification cards containing pilgrims’ details, which would be issued upon arrival in Medina to aid coordination and safety during the pilgrimage.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Board, , commended Governor for his continued support towards ensuring a seamless Hajj operation.

He assured pilgrims that all necessary logistics, including accommodation, transportation, and tents at Mina and Arafat, had been fully arranged ahead of their arrival.

Delivering a lecture at the event, the Grand Khadi of the Kwara State Shariah Court of Appeal, , urged intending pilgrims to uphold righteousness and remain patient throughout the spiritual exercise.

Special prayers were later offered for a successful Hajj, led by the Imam Imale of Ilorin, , alongside Imam Gambari and this year’s Amir Hajj, the Etsu Tsaragi, .
