Ogun East APC Endorses Abiodun for Senate, Sidelines Gbenga Daniel

Leaders of the (APC) in Ogun East Senatorial District have endorsed Governor as their consensus candidate for the 2027 Senate race, in a move seen as sidelining former governor .

The endorsement was announced at a stakeholders’ meeting held at Adeola Odutola Hall in Ijebu-Ode, attended by party leaders, elected officials, and grassroots representatives across the district.

According to a statement issued by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, , the gathering drew members of the Governor’s Advisory Council, serving and former lawmakers, local government chairmen, councillors, ward executives, as well as youth and women leaders.

Speaking at the event, former senator said the decision was based on a shared belief in Abiodun’s capacity to represent the district effectively at the National Assembly.

He added that party leaders would formally communicate the endorsement to the governor and also commit to purchasing his nomination forms.

Also speaking, the Secretary to the State Government, , described the endorsement as unanimous and historic, citing the governor’s record in governance and party unity.

A member of the House of Representatives, , commended Abiodun’s administration for fostering peace and development, expressing confidence that he would attract greater benefits to Ogun East at the national level.

Similarly, the Chairman of Sagamu Local Government, , urged the governor to accept the senatorial bid, describing it as a collective appeal from the district.

The meeting reportedly had full participation from all 103 councillors across the nine local governments in Ogun East, alongside key party stakeholders and elders.

Political observers say the endorsement signals a major shift in Ogun East’s political dynamics ahead of the 2027 elections.
