Kwara Police Nab Notorious Cultist, Armed Robbery Suspects in Crackdown

The Kwara State Police Command has recorded a major breakthrough in its fight against violent crime with the arrest of suspected armed robbers and cult members allegedly terrorising residents around the Amoyo axis of Ilorin.

The command disclosed that the suspects were apprehended following an armed robbery incident reported at Kabba Kajola Junction on April 19, 2026.

In a statement issued on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the police identified the arrested suspects as Abdulazeez Isiaq, popularly known as “Pumpin,” and Rilwan Mohammed, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend another suspect currently on the run.

According to the statement, the arrests were made through swift intelligence-led operations launched after the robbery attack was reported at the Amoyo Division.

The police revealed that preliminary investigations showed that the suspects allegedly attacked their victims, forcefully dragged them to an uncompleted building used as a hideout, and threatened to kill them before dispossessing them of valuables, including an iPhone 13, Samsung A2S phone, and other personal belongings.

The statement added that operatives recovered a locally made pistol and one of the stolen mobile phones from the suspects, who reportedly confessed to committing the crime.

Further investigation by the State Criminal Investigation Department reportedly linked the suspects to the Eiye Confraternity and several cases of armed robbery and cult-related killings within Ilorin and surrounding communities.

“The principal suspect, Abdulazeez Isiaq, is a known criminal figure, and his arrest has significantly disrupted criminal activities in the area,” the statement said.

The police command stated that the suspects would be charged in court upon completion of investigations, while reassuring residents of its commitment to sustaining operations aimed at ridding the state of criminal elements and ensuring the safety of lives and property.
