Qs Omuiyadun Hammed Dimeji, popularly known as Yah Omuz, has officially declared his intention to contest for the Kwara State House of Assembly seat representing the Essa/Shawo/Igboidun Constituency under the platform of the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 elections.
Yah Omuz, in his declaration message, also appealed to party stakeholders and fellow aspirants to consider adopting him as a consensus candidate, saying such a move would strengthen unity within the party and improve its chances in the constituency election.
The aspirant said the constituency needed “a unifying force with proven grassroots acceptance, tested leadership capacity, and a clear, people-oriented ideology.”
According to him, his emergence as a consensus candidate would help minimise internal divisions and present a formidable front for the party ahead of the polls.
Yah Omuz, a former Students’ Union Government President of the Federal Polytechnic, Offa, said his campaign would focus on grassroots engagement and responsive representation through what he described as a “Mobile Constituency Office Initiative.”
He explained that the initiative was aimed at taking governance closer to the people by creating a system where leaders engage directly with constituents and respond swiftly to their concerns.
The APC aspirant also stressed the need for inclusive leadership and increased political consciousness among citizens, warning against what he termed “political lobotomy,” which he described as a system that distracts the grassroots from demanding accountability from leaders.
“Leadership must not thrive on engineered ignorance but on informed participation,” he said, adding that civic enlightenment and transparency remained critical to good governance.
