The has clarified why some candidates are receiving “No Result Yet” notifications in the ongoing 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), revealing that results of underage candidates are being deliberately withheld.
JAMB spokesman, , said the development followed a wave of enquiries from concerned parents and guardians over the delay in the release of some candidates’ results.
According to him, candidates who do not meet the approved age requirement for admission would not have their results released immediately, resulting in the automated “No Result Yet” response generated by the system.
Benjamin reiterated that only candidates who will attain the age of 16 years on or before September 30, 2026, are eligible to sit for the UTME, except under the board’s exceptional candidate policy.
He explained that under the policy, underage candidates seeking special consideration must demonstrate exceptional academic ability by scoring at least 320 in the UTME and obtaining a minimum of 80 per cent in subsequent screening exercises.
The JAMB spokesman further disclosed that, based on prior agreements reached with parents, only candidates who meet the 320-score benchmark would be shortlisted for further assessments and possible consideration for admission.
He added that until the screening process is concluded, the results of underage candidates would remain withheld, urging parents and stakeholders to remain patient as the board continues efforts to uphold the integrity and standards of Nigeria’s admission system.
