2027: Oma-Eko withdraws House of Reps bid, backs Olododo for APC ticket

A former aspirant for the Ilorin East/Ilorin South Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives, Mahmud Umar, popularly known as Oma-Eko, has withdrawn from the 2027 race and declared support for Engr. Abdulquawiy Abdulganiyu Olododo.

In a statement issued on Friday, Umar said his decision followed “deep reflection and wide consultations” with stakeholders within the All Progressives Congress.

He said the move was aimed at promoting unity within the party and strengthening the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The former aspirant described Olododo as a committed public servant with a proven record of service and competence.

He noted that Olododo had served the state in several capacities, including as Technical Assistant to the Governor on Agriculture, General Manager of KWASSIP, Commissioner for Solid Minerals Development, and most recently Commissioner for Works.

According to him, Olododo’s experience in public service and infrastructure development makes him well suited to provide effective representation for the people of Ilorin East and Ilorin South federal constituency.

Umar said, “This decision is not a step back; it is a strategic step forward for unity, continuity, and the greater good of our constituency and the APC.”

He thanked his supporters, party leaders, youths, women, and other stakeholders who supported his aspiration, assuring them that the movement they built together remained strong.

The APC chieftain also urged his supporters to transfer their loyalty and support to Olododo in order to ensure victory for the party in the 2027 elections.

He reaffirmed his commitment to grassroots empowerment, youth inclusion, and community development, stressing that his political vision remained unchanged despite stepping down from the race.
