The Kwara State branch of the has dragged two officers of the before a court over the alleged assault of one of its members, Barrister Aladodo Abdullateef Nurudeen.
The officers identified in the direct complaint are Ajayi Williams Gbolahan and Busari Babatunde.
According to the complaint signed by the NBA Secretary in Kwara State, Barrister Dauda Jimoh, the incident occurred on April 10, 2026, when the lawyer visited the NSCDC office in Ilorin in his professional capacity to attend to a client.
The association alleged that despite identifying himself as a legal practitioner, the officers confronted and assaulted him before allegedly dragging him into a room where he was further brutalised.
The complaint described the action as unprovoked and a blatant abuse of power, adding that the lawyer sustained injuries and suffered humiliation as a result of the alleged assault.
At the last court sitting, counsel to the prosecution, Professor D.A. Ariyo-Osu, represented by Barrister J.S. Muhammed, informed the court that the Kwara State NSCDC Commandant had allegedly failed to comply with a court order directing him to produce the officers involved.
The prosecution subsequently applied for a warrant of arrest against the two officers and a summons compelling the commandant to appear and explain why he should not be committed for contempt.
Counsel representing the NSCDC, M.M. Kolo, apologised for the absence of the commandant, stating that the first defendant, Ajayi Williams Gbolahan, had allegedly absconded after disciplinary proceedings commenced against him, while the second defendant could not be officially identified.
Chief Magistrate Maryam Qudus Dupe Adebayo granted the applications of the prosecution and adjourned the matter till next Wednesday for further hearing.
