Support grows for Gbenga Makanjuola’s Kwara South senatorial bid

Support appears to be mounting across the seven local government areas of Kwara South for the senatorial aspiration of Hon. Gbenga Peter Makanjuola ahead of the 2027 general elections, with youth groups, party stakeholders, women associations, and community leaders endorsing his ambition.

The growing endorsements cut across Ekiti, Ifelodun, Oke-Ero, Offa, Oyun, Isin, and Irepodun local government areas, where supporters described Makanjuola as an experienced, accessible, and people-oriented politician capable of providing effective representation at the National Assembly.

Several groups and stakeholders who spoke during recent consultations and engagements across the district cited his grassroots connection, political experience, humility, and responsiveness to constituents’ needs as reasons behind their support for his aspiration under the .

Youth leaders from the various local government areas also commended the former lawmaker’s consistent engagement with the grassroots and his track record in public service.

In Ekiti Local Government, Amb. Anjorin Babatunde of Ekiti Youth Voices said Makanjuola’s accessibility and experience make him a strong candidate for the district.

Similarly, the Coordinator of the Ifelodun Progressive Youth Forum, Issa Jubril Babatunde, described him as a politician who has remained connected to the grassroots and possesses the competence to attract meaningful development to Kwara South.

Stakeholders from Offa, Oyun, Isin, and Irepodun also echoed similar sentiments, stressing the need for quality and inclusive representation in the district.

Political observers noted that one of the qualities distinguishing Makanjuola is his decision to return to his constituency after serving in the House of Representatives to appreciate constituents for their support, a gesture many supporters described as rare in Nigerian politics.

The groups pledged to intensify grassroots mobilisation across wards and communities in support of his aspiration ahead of the APC senatorial primary and the 2027 general elections.
