‘My blessings are with AbdulRazaq’s candidates,’ Emir tells Kwara APC

The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, on Monday declared his support for candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, saying they have his blessings because they were produced under the leadership of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

The Emir spoke at his palace in Ilorin when leaders and thousands of members of the APC paid him a courtesy visit to formally present the party’s candidates and seek royal blessings ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The delegation, led by the Kwara APC Chairman, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, included the party’s governorship candidate and Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Salihu Danladi, senatorial, House of Representatives and House of Assembly candidates.

Addressing the gathering, the Emir commended Governor AbdulRazaq for what he described as his remarkable achievements and people-oriented leadership, urging Kwarans to continue supporting the administration.

“Whoever sees good things and chooses not to say it is insincere. Let us call a spade a spade. What we are seeing on the ground is real. The Governor has done very well,” the monarch said.

He prayed for electoral success for Governor AbdulRazaq, President Bola Tinubu and all APC candidates in the state.

Reacting after the visit, Danladi acknowledged that democracy accommodates divergent interests but expressed confidence that aggrieved party members would eventually unite behind the APC.

“I am certain that other aspirants will support our candidature. The reconciliation committee has been set up, and I believe it will ensure justice and strengthen unity within the party,” he said.

He also expressed optimism that the APC would retain all elective positions in the state in the 2027 elections, citing the large turnout of supporters at recent party activities.

Earlier, Fagbemi said the APC candidates emerged through transparent primary elections conducted by the party’s National Headquarters in line with its guidelines, and appealed to the Emir to offer prayers for the party’s success at the polls.
