The in Kwara State has agreed to zone the House of Representatives seat for the Ekiti/Isin/Irepodun/Oke-Ero Federal Constituency to the Ekiti axis ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The decision was reached during a stakeholders’ meeting convened by the Kwara South Senatorial Chairman of the APC, Hon. Olabanji Olayemi, at Ephonix Hotel, Flower Garden, Ilorin.
Party officials, stakeholders, and aspirants from across the federal constituency attended the meeting, including the Kwara APC Public Relations Officer, Alhaji Waheed Babatunde, and the Kwara South Senatorial Secretary, Hon. Joseph Towoju.
Among the aspirants present were Prince Jesufemi Adeyemi Oyeyemi, Dr. Toba Oloyede, Mrs. Florence Oyeyemi, Bashorun Kayode Bankole, Abiola Abdulkareem Jagunlabi, Gbenle Adeyemi, Dr. Alex Bankole, Gbenga Ajibola, Hon. Ganiu Gabriel, and Dare Bankole.
Speaking at the meeting, Olayemi said the zoning arrangement was adopted to ensure fairness, equity, and political balance within the constituency.
He sympathised with aspirants who had already purchased nomination forms before the announcement, urging them to respect party supremacy and remain committed to the unity of the APC.
According to him, loyalty and dedication to the party would not go unnoticed, assuring members that everyone would benefit from the dividends of democracy in due course.
The aspirants present at the meeting unanimously endorsed the zoning arrangement and pledged support for the party’s resolution.
Some of the aspirants, including Hon. Ganiu Gabriel, Mrs. Florence Oyeyemi, Bashorun Kayode Bankole, and Abiola Abdulkareem Jagunlabi, said the decision was in line with the principles of fairness and inclusiveness.
They noted that the Irepodun axis had occupied the House of Representatives seat for several years, while Isin Local Government previously held the position for four years, making it appropriate for the Ekiti axis to produce the next representative.
The meeting ended peacefully with a closing prayer offered by Abiola Abdulkareem Jagunlabi.
