Kwara State Governor, , on Monday endorsed Ambassador as his preferred successor ahead of the 2027 governorship election in the state.
The governor, in a statement issued on Monday, said the endorsement followed extensive consultations with party leaders and stakeholders within the .
AbdulRazaq described Yahaya Seriki as “young, pro-people, astute and broad-minded,” adding that the APC chieftain possesses the leadership qualities and political experience needed to sustain the achievements of his administration.
“Ambassador Yahaya Seriki has been a great political mobiliser with profound investments in and extensive goodwill among the people of Kwara State. I have no doubt about his capacity and that his choice is appropriate for the people of our state at this time,” the governor stated.
He, however, clarified that the endorsement does not stop other aspirants from participating in the party’s governorship primary scheduled for Thursday, May 21, 2026.
According to him, members and leaders of the party should support Seriki’s emergence in the interest of cohesion, unity, and the continued success of the APC in Kwara State.
The governor also commended other governorship aspirants within the party for what he described as their discipline, maturity, and commitment to building on the achievements recorded by his administration over the last seven years.
